La Mesita Ranch Estate boasts four unique adobe cottages, and one Grande Hacienda on its 140 acre property. Each of these “residences” are unique onto themselves, with art, and décor that bring together ancient and modern, and that speak to the land and culture of the Pueblo of Pojoaque. The residences were designed by legendary architect John Gaw Meem, who actually defined the architectural styles that are pervasive in New Mexico today.
One of the most popular amenities at La Mesita Ranch Estate is its huge and beautiful pool. The pool is heated , and is surrounded by a flagstone pool deck adorned with flowers and trees, that offer an explosion of color throughout the spring, summer, and autumn seasons.
With a full outdoor kitchen, changing rooms, showers, and a huge bin of pool toys for fun in the water, the pool is thee place to be all summer long!
La Mesita Ranch Estate features a serene duo of ponds, that are fed naturally by the waters of a neighboring river belonging to the Pueblo of Pojoaque.
A beautiful and picturesque duck pond is the host to a multitude of wildlife, both local, and migratory. With benches and tables for picnicking, or enjoying a bottle of wine, the duck pond and nature preserve is the perfect spot for seeing, relaxing, and enjoying the wildlife of the area.
La Mesita has its name because of the ancient Mesa that sits within the properties. This Mesa, was at one time the ancestral hub of the people of Pojoaque. The Mesa contained cultural objects, cultural relics, funerary objects, human remains, ruins and archaeological and historical resources, which areas are now expressly subject to the American National Historic Preservation Act.
One of the most impressive, and truly “epic” features of La Mesita Ranch Estate is its Equestrian courtyard, and stables.
The courtyard is surrounded by the “Main Stables”, an indoor arena, and a completely dramatic “Colonnade” with Italian inspired arches making it one of the most dramatic backdrops in the Southwest .With a backdrop of European inspired stables, complete with Grand prix winning horses, this unique component of the property is simply unparalleled .
All of the residences at La Mesita are adorned with art, pottery and décor from the esteemed artists from the Pueblo of Pojoaque, and surrounding areas. La Mesita Ranch Estate’s “style” is Tribally elegant with pieces that are both traditional and modern. All of the art and pottery in the homes at La Mesita Ranch Estate are Museum quality. It is a privilege, and an honor to be able to host art from the community in the historic homes of La Mesita.
